You write of the VP Harris 60 Minutes interview, “the edited televised version suggest an effort was made to make the responses appear more coherent than they were.” I realize that MAGA World in its effort to make VP Harris seem incapable of being president has latched on to CBS running one version of Harris’s answer to a question on 60 Minutes and a longer one on Face the Nation. Yes, release the transcript. Whatever. 

Donald Trump has said CBS should have their license to broadcast revoked over this, “CBS should lose its license, and it should be bid out to the Highest Bidder, as should all other Broadcast Licenses, because they are just as corrupt as CBS — and maybe even WORSE!” He’s also at other times called for ABC, NBC and CNN to have their licenses to broadcast taken. That seems like a bigger story to me. 

President Biden was driven from the race because of his supposed cognitive problems by the Right and by the media of all stripes. Is he too old? Maybe so, but he stepped down. At the end of another 4 year term Trump would be a year and a half older than Biden is now and his brain is not functioning so good lately. This past week alone has way too much to go into. 

If Trump gets elected again and is morally or mentally capable of the job Republicans, such as our esteemed representative, are not going to act to remove him. They lack the courage on every level, political and physical. Who, if anyone, is going to be running this country is an open question. 

Kamala Harris handled herself quite well in the debate with Trump and in the interview with Bret Baier on Fox, both unedited. Trump refuses to do another debate. She’s also chosen a very good running mate and run a flawless campaign. She’s the most capable candidate and that’s why so many longtime Republicans are backing her.

Post Script 

Mark, that’s a little longer than I’d like to have made it, but if you care to run it. There’s this effort by backers of Donald Trump to make out that Kamala Harris spouts word salad. The instances of Trump saying nonsensical things is so long I could fill an issue of your paper and then some. Yesterday, he opined on the magnificence of Arnold Palmer’s penis and said Harris was a shit vice president. That’s just yesterday and I’m sure his supporters look at that as perfectly okay. 

Here’s the longer answer from Harris that is being portrayed as “word salad.” Maybe my brain is bad but it seems coherent to me. I’m guessing it was cut for time on the 60 Minutes. That’s just the Occam’s razor solution. 

Maybe you’d care to contrast that with Trump’s answer to a woman at the NY Economic Club when she asked him about funding child care. 

I’ve listened to that 3 or 4 times now and it still makes my head hurt. He wants to put 60% tariffs on everything from China and 10 to 20% tariffs on goods imported from anywhere. He either doesn’t understand or is lying when he claims the exporting countries pay the tariff. So, on top of his cognitive decline his policies suck. And he’s the candidate of the supposedly free market Republican Party. If you want you can look for his recent appearance with John Micklethwait at the Chick Economic Club. That wasn’t any better. 

Anyway. Gone on long enough.
