I didn’t realize it was hymn when I was surprised to hear the organist playing it in church one Sunday. “Why’s she playing Cat Stevens?” It was written in 1931 by a lady named Eleanor Farjeon. Cat Stevens showed great taste in covering it and likely is the one who popularized it.
The wonderful Tomas Michaud is covering the song this week in my online lessons and inspired me listen to some disparate versions from Cat’s.
